No-Stress Meal Planning with Chefs Plate

For as much as I love meal planning, I gotta be honest: it can be a bit of a drag and a hassle at times. There are some weeks when I just don’t have the time or the energy to even think about what to cook, let alone go to the grocery store to buy ingredients, pack said groceries away, and then prep and cook meals, including all the peeling, chopping etc. If I’m being honest, most of that responsibility falls on yours truly’s shoulders every week. I love my husband, but meal planning and cooking just aren’t his forte….

Life Update: Fertility Journey, Career & What Else Has Been Going On

Sharing some honest reflections on the blog today. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed that my posts have been a little less regular for the past few months. In fact, I feel like I haven’t been able to get back into my ‘groove’ since the start of the year. As a full-time content creator, this is an especially tough thing to navigate, as my livelihood depends on creating and sharing content. We all go through ups and downs, and periods where we lack inspiration in this type of work. But lately, it’s not the inspiration that’s…

Best Food at the St. Lawrence Market

I might be biased, but I think I live in one of the best neighbourhoods in all of Toronto: the St. Lawrence Neighbourhood. Home for the past 8 years, I’ve seen the area go through lots of change. But two constants have been the high-quality food & drink offerings and the world-class market that is undoubtedly the area’s focal point – the St. Lawrence Market. Ranked as the best food market in the world by National Geographic in 2012, the St. Lawrence Market has been a vibrant piece of Toronto’s history for over 208 years. Inside, you’ll find global bites…

1 Year After My Ectopic Pregnancy: Where We Are Now

Around this time last year, we went through one of the most gut-wrenching things that could possibly ever happen: my ectopic pregnancy. Unlucky for us, it happens in only 1% of all pregnancies. Following my ectopic pregnancy surgery, I’m grateful to be healthy and whole. But now that it’s been a year, I thought I’d share where we are in our journey. It’s become a tradition on this blog to share a personal update on or around Valentine’s Day. It started 3 years ago, when I decided to share my love story with Alex. The following year, it was unfortunately…

My Intentions for 2021

New year, new chapter? I dunno…so far, 2021 feels very much like an extension of 2020. With the way January’s been unfolding, it doesn’t seem like we’re getting off this rollercoaster anytime soon! That being said, it does feel like a ‘fresh start’ for me in many respects and I’m capitalizing on that where I can. At the start of every year, I try to set the tone for the year by creating intentions for myself. These intentions are normally a reflection of what worked and what didn’t work in the previous year (you can read my 2020 intentions here)….

White Christmas Cookie Cocktail

Folks, we are in the home stretch and Christmas will be here in less than 2 weeks! After literally working overtime hours for the last 3ish consecutive months, as of last Friday, I’m officially in holiday mode! I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to put on the Christmas tunes, my stretchy paints (not that I haven’t been wearing them all year, haha), and start whipping up some delicious food and drinks for the holiday season! When asked a few weeks ago about the kinds of recipes they wanted to see me share for the holidays, my Instagram community…

3 Easy Thanksgiving Side Dishes

Canadian Thanksgiving is in just a couple of days. But if you’re anything like me, you’re still in last minute prep mode. We have planned a beautiful Fall harvest themed tablescape for our Thanksgiving décor, as I shared here. Our main protein has also been purchased and is thawing in the fridge. Check, check. However, the side dishes are still a bit up in the air. Each year, I have a general idea of what ingredients I’d like to use (cranberries and pumpkins go hand in hand with Thanksgiving, in my opinion). But I like to try to incorporate traditional…

A Fall Harvest Tablescape for Thanksgiving

Presentation is just as important as flavour. As the oft-quoted saying goes, we eat with our eyes first. But outside of how we present our food when entertaining, in my opinion, one of the most critical aspects of the Thanksgiving experience is décor. Have you started getting ready for Thanksgiving? Honestly, there are few holidays I get as excited about! Mainly because Thanksgiving involves gathering with loved ones, expressing our gratitude, and breaking bread. While the occasion will undoubtedly look a little different this year, I do hope you are still able to celebrate in an intimate setting. Alex and…
