I shot this look with Tiffany (@littleblackpearls) on a gorgeous, sunny day earlier in July. That day, on our agenda was: visiting a new coffee shop (for the coffee and the photos, of course), shooting at Sugar Beach, and then meeting some of our other blogger friends for brunch and ice cream. Coffee, shooting, brunch, ice cream – sounds like the perfect Sunday to me! Looking at the images for this blog post of me twirling and frolicking around in the sand (even though we were technically still ‘working’) makes me appreciate even more those care-free weekends when my time belonged completely to me.

Since I’ve settled into my new job, my reality has changed. The firm culture is different, and I’ve learned that, at any given moment, I could be hit with an avalanche of work or brought into a deal that’s closing. So, regardless of whether that’s on the Friday before the long weekend or if I have other plans, the deal has to get done. I don’t mean to complain, because I’m happy that I took this job – it challenges me more than before, I’m learning a lot, and I work with a group of incredibly nice and brilliant people. But, it now seems that weekends off aren’t just going to be a given, like they used to be.

Nevertheless, I keep reminding myself that you have to work really hard for what you want in life, and hard work does pay off. So, anytime I have to go into the office on a weekend and stare at another office tower from my window, rather than at the lake, I’ll look at these photos of a care-free Sunday morning to remind me that whenever I have time to myself, it’s a luxury and I shouldn’t take any of it for granted!
