10 Reflections on Blogging, After My First Year as a Blogger

The launch of the Kenzo x H&M collection a couple weeks ago was a humble reminder of this time one year ago, when I was so desperate…errr, excited, to shop the Balmain x H&M collection that I did one of the craziest things of my entire life: camping out at the mall. I waited in line for more than 13 hours, including sleeping on the freezing cold Toronto Eaton Centre floor, just so I could be one of the first people to get dibs on the exclusive merchandise…or so I thought. I later learned that some lucky fashion bloggers got…

Transitional Dressing with Bench Canada

Oh fall, everyone’s favourite season! The leaves change colour to beautiful hues of orange and red, the pumpkin spice latte makes its return (not that I care), people indulge on generous portions of turkey and stuffing for Thanksgiving, and go overboard with the costumes for Halloween. Autumn also happens to be the season that my birthday, which I celebrated last week, falls in. But, believe it or not, fall is my least favourite time of year. Why, you ask? Well, that’s because fall is the beginning of the end. It’s a signal that winter is right around the corner. Most…

Changes

If you read my last blog post, you’d know that time management is my biggest problem, and the conclusion that I arrived at was that I have to start making some changes. While cutting some things out of my life is in order, blogging isn’t one of those things. In fact, I want to make the adjustments that are necessary in order to give my full-time job, blogging, wedding planning and relationship the attention they all deserve. Learning to say no and to only take on projects and engagements that are worthwhile are part of that process. Another important change…

Time Management

Time management is the number one thing that I struggle with. If you were to speak to anyone who knows me well, they’d tell you that I’m usually extremely organized and on top of things (I live by to-do lists and spreadsheets). But, since I started blogging, I always feel like I’m playing catch-up, rather than being ahead of the game like I used to be. Not that I’m blaming blogging; I think it’s just a natural by-product of introducing a very time-consuming thing into my life. Styling and shooting different looks, sorting through and editing photos, composing blog posts,…

Nordstrom Gala

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last little while, you’d already know that Nordstrom has made its way to Toronto. The Toronto Eaton Centre store officially opens today and the Yorkdale store opens on October 21st. With all the amazing activation events over the last few weeks, including jam vans, fitness and beauty events, and opening galas for both the Eaton Centre and Yorkdale locations, it’s pretty hard to not have noticed all of the fanfare! Nordstrom’s also been working with influencers (including yours truly 😉 ) to spread the word. I attended the social meet-up on…

Care-Free

I shot this look with Tiffany (@littleblackpearls) on a gorgeous, sunny day earlier in July. That day, on our agenda was: visiting a new coffee shop (for the coffee and the photos, of course), shooting at Sugar Beach, and then meeting some of our other blogger friends for brunch and ice cream. Coffee, shooting, brunch, ice cream – sounds like the perfect Sunday to me! Looking at the images for this blog post of me twirling and frolicking around in the sand (even though we were technically still ‘working’) makes me appreciate even more those care-free weekends when my time belonged completely…

Bailey Nelson

Who ever said premium glasses had to cost a fortune?! The wonderful people at Bailey Nelson aspire to bring everyone the same quality glasses and sunglasses as all the luxury brands at a fraction of the cost, and I appreciate that! They started in Australia in 2012, and they now have locations all across Australia, New Zealand and the UK, and a total of 6 stores across Canada, including Vancouver, Ottawa, and Toronto. Breaking away from the same supply chain that other designers use and thus saving you all the mark-ups, Bailey Nelson manufactures their glasses using quality materials and craftsmanship. They’re striving to change the glasses industry and…

Twirl

Twirl. That’s all I want to do when I wear this top! If you read my last style post, you would already know that I’m obsessed with frilly white tops, so this top from SheIn was the perfect addition to my ever-growing collection! I came across it while shopping online for more summer shirts, and I just had to have it (especially since it’s such a great price)! It makes quite the statement on its own, with its large, accentuated ruffles, that not much else is really needed. I’ve styled with a pair of treggings (which is not a made up word, btw) and lace-up high heels,…

No Frills

The name of this blog post is a bit of a misnomer because it’s actually about frills – a lot of them! As you may have noticed if you follow me on Instagram, I have a bit of an obsession with frilly tops, and in particular, white frilly tops (more to come in my next style post). I also love off-the-shoulder tops, so this little number from Club Monaco is exactly my style. Speaking of Club Monaco, if you live in Toronto, have you had a chance to check out the Club Monaco Market at the Bloor St. W. location yet? I…

On the Fringe

There’s just something about warm, sunny weather and white jeans that go hand in hand! Despite having to be so extremely careful when wearing them, white jeans are one of my favourite things to put on in the spring and summer. I think they look so lovely on women. Fun fact: the first time my parents met, it was at a party. My mother was wearing white jeans and it was one of the things that caught my father’s eye and caused him to approach her. I guess it was love at first white (my parents will probably kill me for sharing this story!) But anyway, on to…
