This blog post will be short – kind of like the amount of time Alex (my fiancé, photographer, and Instagram husband) and I had to shoot this look!
I CONE-not begin to tell you how excited I am that it’s nearly Spring (pardon the bad ice cream pun)!!!
(Birthday cake ice cream with whipped cream, strawberries, pineapple and waffle cone wedge from Dutch Dreams)
Spring means that it’s finally ice cream weather. It also means no more snow, warmer days, and LONGER days! The clocks go ahead one hour this weekend, which does mean that we lose one hour of sleep on Saturday night, but we will actually gain extra daylight hours going forward!
I think every fashion blogger will be happy about the fact that there is now at least one extra hour of daylight to get in those weekend shoots! At least in my case, this now means less pressure to rush around from brunch to running errands, to trying to squeeze in a shoot during that last ‘golden hour’ before the sun goes down on the weekend – hashtag blogger problems, hashtag chasing light.
This simple look and fast shoot literally was the product of one such day last weekend.
Home late from lunch…no time for anything…hair up in a quick ponytail, jeans, sweater, vest, sunnies and boots on…and let’s go!
I picked up this pair of brown leather Chelsea boots from Topshop on sale for only $50 plus tax. They were originally 60% off and I managed to negotiate another 10% for a tiny scratch on the left boot (hey, you never get anything you don’t ask for, right?!)!
I paired with high-waisted blue skinny jeans, a black turtleneck, and a black long vest.
This vest is a great transitional piece for spring and is perfect to throw on over top a short or long-sleeved shirt. Easy breezy!
Sweater: Zara; Vest: Missguided; Jeans: Topshop; Boots: Topshop; Sunglasses: Ray Ban
And did you notice my new Daniel Wellington watch? I’m loving the rose gold details and brown leather strap (pairs well with my Chelsea boots), and of course, the large, minimal white face that Daniel Wellington is known for! Shop the collection here. Happy shopping!

A quick – and very well written – post before going to bed is all we need to get some inspiration for the next day! Xoxo
Thank you so much, Aritta! Let’s plan an ice cream date very soon and I hope to see you this Saturday.
Have to admit I kept reading because of the ice cream…glad you shared the source! Another great blog!
Thanks so much, Amber! There will be lots and lots more ice cream popping up on my Instagram and blog now that the weather is nice. So stay tuned! Thanks for checking out my blog and following along 🙂
