I follow a lot of other fashion bloggers for inspiration; and so, I couldn’t help but notice the absolute ONSLAUGHT of photos from Coachella on my Instagram feed for the past couple of weeks from high profile international bloggers and even some from Canada who made the trip to Indio, California. They all look so well put together in their free-flowing, boho chic festival attire, without even a single hair out of place (unless it was intentionally done that way to look effortless), all while posing in front of the iconic Coachella Ferris wheel.
Case in point:

But real talk: how many bloggers were, like, actually there to party?! If I went to a festival like Coachella, I don’t think I’d be able to keep up my Instagram game! (Sidenote: For those of you who didn’t know, music is another one of my passions and is a huge part of my life. I am a lover of electronic music – specifically, deep house, tech house, and techno. I’ve been attending festivals and going to see DJs for more than ten years, and I’ve made the trip to the dance music capital of the world (Ibiza) twice. My fiancé and I actually first connected because of a common interest in house music!)
Although I attend festivals mainly for the music, there is a lot to be said for festival fashion, which now seems to be the trend du jour. Many stores even started doing a whole section on festival fashion. Coachella may be over now, but in anticipation of the many amazing festivals that Toronto has to offer (Electric Island and Bestival, to name a couple), I thought I’d do an ode to festival fashion with this ootd.
I’ve channelled my inner Kendall Jenner and am embracing the boho vibes for this outfit.
I’ve layered a long black vest over an off-the-shoulder top that I’m currently loving. Off-the-shoulder tops have such a casual feminine feel to them and are extremely popular this season.
On top of the shirt and vest, I’ve incorporated another hot trend: the choker. Chokers, whether thin (like this black lace that I’m wearing) or a little thicker, have made a major comeback this year, and I have absolutely no complaints about that! I’ve paired everything with grey ripped-knee jeans because, even though most festivals are in the summer, living in Toronto, you never know what kind of weather you’re going to get! Last year, many of Toronto’s music festivals were cancelled or rained out; and by night time, even on a good day, it can get chilly!
By the way, did you notice my new hair?! I got a total of 4 inches cut off and was styled with flowy locks for this shoot, all courtesy of Anna Giannini of Mosaic Hair Group, a L’Oréal Professionnel stylist.
And, I’m holding these balloons because I celebrated an important milestone this past week…
I hit 5,000 followers on Instagram!!! Thank you all so much for your support – I can’t express my gratitude enough and am excited to continue building!!! And special thanks again to the lovely Aminaz Karim for these photos. We had a blast with this shoot!
