I’m not afraid of commitment. I mean, I’m happily engaged to be married (we’ve been together for nearly 4 years), I’ve had several long-term relationships before my fiancé, and I have friendships that have lasted more than 30 years. But for some reason, I’ve never been able to commit to certain essential service providers, like a family doctor (I haven’t seen the same doctor regularly since my pediatrician) or a hairdresser.
My ‘hair history’ is actually quite embarrassing. I used to go for a haircut max two times a year; and, other than my phase in high school when I dyed my hair every few weeks because Chatelaine Magazine was giving away free coupons for Clairol’s Natural Instincts hair dye, I colour my hair very infrequently. I have gotten my hair cut at more places than I care to admit, including a couple times at Top Cuts (yes, Top Cuts!), until I learned the hard way that you really do get what you pay for! I could never find the right fit when it came to a hair salon, and I never saw the benefit of having ‘a guy’ (or in this case, girl) that I go to whenever I need something done with my hair. That’s all until I finally landed on a hair length that I fell in love with this year and realized that proper hair maintenance is important (especially as a blogger, where I’m constantly posting pictures of myself).
So, I’m excited to announce that I’ve partnered with Toni & Guy Queen West as one of their official ambassadors for 2017! What’s even more exciting is that I’ve FINALLY found a hair salon that feels like home!
Toni & Guy Queen West opened at 204 Queen St. W., Toronto on May 2nd. I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek of the salon and have my first hair appointment on May 1st. I kid you not when I say it was the best hair appointment of my life! I was warmly welcomed by the lovely Audrey, the Salon Director and my hair stylist that day. I was offered mimosas and got to eat sushi while getting my hair styled (it doesn’t hurt that the salon is located right above Ebisu on Queen St. W.). The salon faces right onto Queen Street and is such a modern and beautiful space. I’ve since gone back 2 more times – once to have a hair trial on the day of my bridal shower, and another time to have my hair highlighted before my Caribbean trip. My hair trial was done by Kimberly Conner, who is so talented and styled my hair exactly as I envisioned; and Audrey is such an expert when it comes to colouring. She really hooked me up with the perfect highlights before the Caribbean and my hair looked perfectly sun kissed the entire time! Here are a couple snaps of my new hair highlights (and a little preview of my upcoming travel diary on the Caribbean).
I also learned that Toni & Guy has several lines of hair products, including Tigi, Catwalk and Bed Head. I’ve been using Bed Head Hard Head hairspray religiously for more than 10 years now, without even realizing it fell under the same umbrella!
I can’t wait to return to T&G for my next hair appointment. Until then, I’ll leave you with some of my favourite photos taken on the day of my first appointment.
You hair always looks great! I can`t wait to get my hair done on your wedding day! 🙂
Thanks girl. It’s going to be a fun day at the salon that day!
So cute guy!!
Thank you! I can’t tell if this is the girl Alex or my fiancé! Lol. Either way: <3
So pretty hair darling! Love those pictures!

Thanks so much, Plume d’Aure!!! Toni & Guy does such a fantastic job!
Oh man just reading this I realized we are so similar haha! I have had horrible hair routines too and I have never been able to commit to a hair dresser. So many times I’ve just gone for a quick trim at a place like Top Cuts or Master Cuts because it’s cheap. I never get my hair died professionally, and the only times I’ve done it in the past were from a box as well!! After reading your experience with Toni & Guy I’m so tempted to find my own hairdresser and start taking the steps to a proper hair care routine! Maybe I’ll have to check out their Queen West location <3 Thanks for sharing
Oh wow! We should definitely hang out more often then, haha! I definitely think you should give T&G a try. They’re affordable and they do such a great job. The staff at the Queen St. location are so caring (I’m sure they are at the other location too, I just haven’t gotten to know them!). Let me know if you decide to go and what you think. Have a great weekend! xoxoxo
Always pretty!!! Love the new hair! It looks super healthy! 😘
Thanks, Aritta! I love this length. It’s so much easier to take care of than before, when I had very long hair. It’s also good for the warmer weather! Hope to see you very soon xoxoxo
Pretty lady!! Love your hair – they did such a good job!
Thanks bf!!!! <3

Thanks, girl! I totally see the benefit now in having a dedicated salon to take care of my hair. I’ve seen such a difference!
Love the white shirt with the tiered sleeves. Where is it from?
Thanks for stopping by and checking out my blog, Abby! The white shirt I’m wearing in the hair salon is from Zara and the white shirt I’m wearing in the photo taken outdoors is from Chicwish!
