7 Winter Recipes You Need To Try from Female Foodies

This winter has been incredibly unpredictable. Seems like one day we’re hovering between 3-5 degrees Celsius, and the next day, we’re back down to negative 15! But the one thing that remains constant during these winter months is our desire for comfort foods! To me, winter just screams oversized, comfy sweaters and meals that soothe the soul! So today, I’ve rounded up 7 winter recipes you’re going to want to check out for those winter nights, when all you want to do is stay in and hibernate! My last recipe round-up was way back in the summer, so I thought…

Braised Beef with Celery Root Puree and Haricot Verts (With Video)

Hands up if you love braised beef! *Raises both hands way up in the air* Braised beef is one of my favourite things to eat. In fact, if I ever see it on a restaurant menu, my choice is already made for me! Braised beef cheek, braised short rib, braised beef shoulder – give it allllll to me!!! But, if you’re anything like me, you might initially feel intimidated to attempt to make it at home. However, making braised beef at home is  surprisingly simple! You can do it with a slow-cooker or a French oven (which is an enamel-covered…

Why a curated Instagram feed is not the culprit

Stop Blaming Someone’s Curated Instagram Feed as the Source of Your Problems

(Sweater: Shopbop (sold out) (Similar from J.O.A., Similar from Endless Rose)//Skirt: Zara (sold out)//Boots: Zara (Similar in black from Free People, Similar from Stuart Weitzman, Similar from Schutz on Shopbop//Toque: sold out (Similar from White + Warren, Similar from Eugenia Kim))  Lately, there has been a huge backlash against the “curated” Instagram feed. More and more, I’m hearing complaints about all the “perfect” photos and “unattainable” lifestyles on Instagram, which in turn, are causing people to feel bad about themselves. Even worse, I’ve heard reports of people hurting themselves, having eating disorders, or committing suicide, which makes my heart sink. And I…

Why I Quit My Job as a Corporate Lawyer to be a Full-Time Blogger

About 8 months ago, I did something that I, never in my wildest dreams, would have imagined to be possible: I quit my job as a lawyer (of 9 years, I might add) to pursue my passion as a full-time blogger. I traded in my 6-figure salary, steady bi-weekly paycheque, medical and dental benefits, and office with a view on a bit of a whim. At the time, I had no clue whether it would pan out in the long run. But I can honestly say that it’s been one of the best things I’ve ever done, and I haven’t…

Travel Guide: Why Mexico City Should be on Your Bucket List

How do I love thee, Mexico City? Let me count the ways! It’s the 4th largest city in the world with a population of over 21.3 million. It has over 40,000 restaurants, more than 600 hotels, 150 museums, 100 art galleries, and so much more. So, it’s not hard to see why, after visiting Mexico City for the first time, it instantly became one of my favourite cities in the world! My good friend and travel buddy, Solmaz K of The Curious Creature, and I spent 4 days and 4 nights in Mexico City at the end of November, 2017…

How to Make the Perfect Roast Chicken Every Time

My first recipe post of 2018 is now here AND it includes my first ever YouTube video!!! If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll have seen that I finally took the plunge into the world of video this week! But in fact, I put this recipe together, styled, photographed, and filmed it since October of last year. So, what took me so long to post it? Well, let me briefly explain… I’ve been wanting to start a YouTube channel for a really long time. But, I let fear and analysis paralysis get in the way. When I finally mustered up…

Travel Diary: Grand Velas Riviera Maya with Air Transat

A couple weeks ago, my husband and I returned from THE most luxurious resort vacation we’ve ever been on at the Grand Velas Riviera Maya thanks to Air Transat. As I sit here writing about what it was like to spend a week in paradise and looking at all of our photos, there is a blizzard happening outside my window and I’m thinking, “Why did we ever come back?!” Can I just sum up the entire trip in one word (AMAZING) and leave it at that? While that would be 100% accurate, I definitely have way more to say about…

Why “Vacation” Doesn’t Really Mean Time Off When You’re Self-Employed

One of the biggest lessons I’ve had to learn since starting to blog full-time is that vacation doesn’t really mean time off, when you’re self-employed. There is no such thing as truly unplugging, especially if most of your work is online. Unless you have a team of people or an intern working for you back at home (which I don’t), going away doesn’t mean you get a break from your business. You still have to be able to pay the bills when you get back, so you can’t just abandon ship! Out of office message? Guess what – IT DOESN’T…

Greatest Accomplishment of 2017

The year started off as a challenge, but 2017 ended up being one of the best years of my life! For the first half of the year, I was struggling to manage my corporate law practice, blogging, and planning my wedding. However, I took a huge risk and leap of faith when I decided to quit my job in order to pursue what I’m passionate about on a full-time basis. The timing of me leaving law couldn’t have been better, and my decision to blog full-time has since paid off. But above my greatest accomplishment professionally, my greatest accomplishment for 2017…

Style Post – From Hibernation to Hypothermia

The last 5 days have been a total and complete blur. Who else feels the same? From all the lazing around in sweats and binge TV watching to excessive eating, I’ve had to ask what day of the week and year it is on several occasions (thank goodness for our Google home!). The days in between Christmas and New Year’s are always kind of strange for me – especially since starting to blog. The best way to describe it is like being in limbo. I’m ‘on vacation’, yet not quite on vacation. Truthfully, as much as I’d love to give…
