Happy 2017, everyone! I hope you’ve all enjoyed the holidays. It’s been a little while since my last blog post. Between being super busy at the office and spending time with family and friends, I’ve been mentally and physically exhausted (who else can relate?)! Although we’re all back to our regular routine now, it will probably still take me a few days to get completely back on track. But, I’ll do my very best to bring you guys lots more fresh content for the new year soon, so stay tuned!

Well, the holidays may officially be over, but hopefully the entertaining hasn’t stopped. For 2017, a couple of my resolutions are to get back into the kitchen and entertain more often, since cooking and entertaining are actually some of my favourite things to do! I’ve teamed up with San Daniele and Mastro to show you just how easy entertaining can be, and how you can look like a superstar in the kitchen, without having to put in hours of work.

Now, it may come as no big surprise that I am a huge meat lover. Give me all the deli and cured meats – salami, prosciutto, ham, sausage; I don’t discriminate! And, IMHO, nothing goes better with cured meats than cheese (and a good glass of wine). So, naturally, one of my favourite things to snack on when I’m at a party, or serve guests when we entertain is charcuterie! Charcuterie is always such a crowd-pleaser, because people love to be able to graze, and anything bite-sized is always appreciated. The beauty of making a charcuterie board is that you don’t have to be a particularly amazing cook, and you don’t need a lot of time for preparation or assembly. You can get as creative as you want, and there really is no such thing as making a mistake when building a charcuterie board.

The key ingredient on any charcuterie platter is good quality cured meats. I love prosciutto, salami, and mortadella best. San Daniele is great for prosciutto and mortadella. The mortadella comes in mild and spicy varieties, and there is even a light option for the health-conscious. Mastro also has tonnes of options for salami. You can choose from Genoa salami, hot Genoa salami, sopressata, hot Calabrese salami – the list goes on and on!

Truth be told, even when we aren’t entertaining, my fiancé and I buy these deli meats on our weekly grocery runs. They’re great to snack on, and sometimes I’ll have a couple slices to tide me over until dinner while I’m cooking! They’re also great to have on-hand, if you like to make sandwiches or panini.

I put this charcuterie board together in literally under 5 minutes. Here are the ingredients:

  • San Daniele prosciutto with ham
  • San Daniele prosciutto with speck ham (which I wrapped around wedges of pears with arugula)
  • San Daniele mortadella
  • Mastro genoa salami
  • Feta cheese
  • Goat’s cheese
  • Green grapes
  • Red grapes
  • Mini baguette crisps
  • Mustard

Other ingredients you might consider adding to your charcuterie board are:

  • Olives
  • Spreads and dips, including jams or tapenades
  • Dried fruits, like apricots or plums
  • Cornichons or pickles

From now until January 8th, you can get a free charcuterie board with any prepak of San Daniele prosciutto and 2 x 300g Riserva Salami chubs at any Loblaws, Superstore or Fortinos store in the GTA.

And that’s not all! I’m giving one lucky follower a chance to win this charcuterie board. To enter, hop on over to my Instagram account and find the picture below for more details on how to enter.

Happy 2017 entertaining!
