Aritzia look for my birthday

Last Thursday, October 19th, I celebrated my 35th birthday! Yes, 35th! No complaints over here about getting old. Thirty-five is actually a number I’m very proud of, and that represents the amount of progress I’ve made. I finally feel like I’m at a place in my life that I’m super happy with, and for that I’m grateful.

But, what I’m not so grateful for is the fact that I had to work on my birthday. As much as I wanted to take the day off, I ended up spending the afternoon working 🙁 .

My answer to working on my birthday? Retail therapy! If there’s one day or occasion you deserve to treat yourself, it’s for your birthday! Amiright?!

Wearing my new outfit from Aritzia

My husband and I drove up to Upper Canada on the weekend to escape the downtown crowds and spend the afternoon together. While we were there, guess which store I went to first? Obviously, my favourite retailer: Aritzia (you guys know I literally spend all my money here)! I picked up an outfit appropriate for my birthday and totally in line with my aesthetic – classic and feminine.

What I love about this pleated skirt is that it’s totally suitable for all seasons. The florals are great for spring, but I’m also a big fan of wearing light colours in the fall and winter too! And what I love even more about it is how it fits! It has a stretchy waistband (so you can wear for the holidays and not have to worry about any food babies!), and I actually had to go down a size to XXS because it sits at the top of the waist! Total confidence booster! It also has permanent pleats, so they will always keep their shape.

Slit at the back of this sheer chiffon blouse and bodysuit

This sheer chiffon blouse that doubles as a bodysuit was the perfect complement for the skirt. The slit at the back adds a little bit of drama, and it’s versatile enough to wear with short skirts and pants.

Tassle earrings from Mendocino

Last, but not least, I decided to step a little out of my comfort zone and pick up a pair of tassel earrings at Mendocino. I’ve always thought they were cute on other people, but not for me (I’m a stud earring kind of gal). But, when I tried them on, I liked them so much, I got them in black and crimson. They don’t look as big on as I thought and they’re a great statement accessory to jazz up even a casual outfit!

What do you guys think of my birthday outfit? Do you also treat yourself on your birthday with some retail therapy, like I do?
